Terms and Conditions

Last updated 14th May 2023

These terms and conditions will apply every time you visit, use, browse, search, register, place an order or raise an enquiry with The Maker Space, whether that’s online or at our location.

Content on our website

Photographs are for guidance only. Sometimes the colours of a product may vary slightly from that shown.

For classes, the description is general and we may slightly alter the offering at the time of participation. The offering shall not be materially different. Again, photographs of materials are for guidance – colours and variations will apply.

Whilst we try and maintain the accuracy of information at all times, sometimes mistakes happen and we will rectify anything that is a problem just as soon as we can.

Stock availability is as accurate as we possibly can be at the time you place your order. If we are unable to fulfil your order for any reason, we will let you know as soon as possible.

Use of our website

You must not use our website for any unlawful activity. Our site is for customers who wish to purchase products and services for personal use. If you want to buy products from us for a business, you must have our written approval. Please don’t use our website in any manner which could cause offence or harm to others. We will happily block people who don’t follow this rule.

We own or have formally licensed all the intellectual property (copyright, design, layout, information, instructions, patterns, photographs, anything and everything appearing) in our website. You are welcome to use our website for your personal use, but unless you have our advance written approval, you are not permitted to:

  • Create third party links to our site
  • Copy or reproduce anything on our website
  • Modify, or share any of our content

Sale of age-restricted items

By law, some items may only be sold to people over the age of 16 (e.g. blades, scissors). You have to be 18 years old to shop on our site. We may ask for proof of age at times to ensure compliance with these age-restrictions. Please do not be offended if we ask.

Contract formation

Our contract with you is formed when we accept your order or booking and send you an email confirmation.

Account

If you set up an account, you’ll be able to keep track of all your orders in one place, create wish lists (which you can share with your family and friends), see what you’ve recently viewed, see your previous invoices, request a return and be able to message us.

Discount codes, promotions and free downloads

Sometimes we might offer a discount code for our online store. These codes are strictly single use per transaction and multiple codes may not be used at the same time. Discounts may be site wide or on specific items in our store. The expiry date for the discount code and any other limitations will be noted with the code.

Taxes and shipping charges are not affected. We reserve the right to cancel an order where we reasonably believe there has been a misuse of such codes.

Discounts will be applied at the end of a transaction but prior to adding on any shipping charges. We accept no responsibility for any equipment or internet failure which leads to a discount code failing or not being redeemed. We reserve the right to amend or withdraw a discount code at any time.

On occasion we might offer a free download. These are available for personal use only, are not transferable and remain the sole copyright of The Maker Space.

Order Information

You’ll receive emails to confirm your order and shipping updates. Your mobile number (if provided) may be used for shipping confirmations. If you’re not sure about something, contact us and we’ll help.

Delivery

Electronic delivery: Your order shall be complete on a downloadable / instant order when you have downloaded same. See restrictions below.

Physical delivery: You are responsible for the accuracy of the shipping information (address) you provide on your order(s). We are not responsible for any mistakes you make and where an order is not delivered due to this reason, you are not entitled to a free replacement. If we receive a non-delivered item back we may resend to you for an additional postage fee.

Delays: We appreciate that people are busy and may not be home when orders arrive, however we are not responsible for any delay if you are not home to receive your order. Any arrangements you make for redelivery or safe place delivery are between you and the courier company. We will provide tracking information for you on dispatch of your parcel.

Risk: Risk in the goods and ownership will pass to you on delivery of your order.

Returns, exchanges and cancellations

Product orders: Electronic / instant download orders:  these are non-refundable, non-exchangeable and cannot be returned for store credit if you have already downloaded same. You have a maximum of 5 downloads of your order for your own personal use (via the email address associated with the order). These items are non-transferable and the copyright in same will always remain with The Maker Space.

Product orders: Changing your mind (within 14 days):  you are entitled by law to cancel and return an entire physical order (not parts of an order) that you have placed online provided that (a) the order is not personalised or cut/made-to-measure; (b) you give written notice of your intention to cancel our contract within 14 days of receiving the goods; (c) you return the goods within a further 14 days; and (d) the goods are unused and are in a resaleable condition. You will need to pay for the costs of returning the goods to us and you should ensure that you use a method that is tracked.

If you wish to cancel your order in this way, please request via your online account (if you set one up) or by emailing us as hello@themakerspace.co.uk if you used Guest Checkout. We will refund you the cost of the goods and a basic level delivery charge within 14 days of receiving the goods back from you to the original payment method.

Product orders: Exchange for store credit:  in addition to the above, if you have changed your mind about some parts of an order, we may accept their return (at our discretion) for store credit. This is conditional on the following: (a) the item(s) are not personalised or cut/made-to-measure; (b) you arrange with us in advance; (c) you return the goods within 14 days of receipt; (d) the goods are unused and in a resaleable condition. Store credit will be valid for 6 months from date of issue and only issued against the original purchaser’s name and email address. It is only redeemable on our website and at no time will be exchanged for cash. If you do not have enough credit to pay for a complete order, you will be required to pay the balance with an alternative payment method. Contact us at hello@themakerspace.co.uk for more details.

Product orders: Faulty goods:  : in the unusual event that there is a problem with the goods you have received, please contact us via your online account (if you set one up) or by emailing us at hello@themakerspace.co.uk if you used Guest Checkout.  Your statutory rights will apply.

Product orders: Fabric, ribbons and trimmings:  All fabric, ribbon and trimmings are cut-to-measure (made-to-measure) and so can only be returned if faulty.

Classes and workshops:  All workshops must be paid in full at time of booking in order to secure your place. All bookings are non-refundable and non-cancellable. We will however, where we can, offer a store credit (redeemable on future classes or store goods) if you notify us no less than one calendar month before the scheduled workshop date. This store credit is valid for a period of 12 months from the date of issue. We are unable to make any exceptions to this policy, regardless of customer reason. In order for a workshop to go ahead we require a minimum number of attendees due to the costs incurred by us in hiring tutors, purchasing class supplies/equipment etc... If for any reason the class is cancelled by us (due to unforeseen circumstances) we will offer you a full refund or a place on the class the next time it is scheduled. If you decide to move onto a future class our offer of a refund is withdrawn and these cancellation policies apply to the new booking (i.e. if you are subsequently unable to attend your new class date a refund does not apply).

Your statutory rights are not affected.

When we might cancel your order and force majeure: on occasion we may have to cancel your order (whether that is for goods or services provided by us) for reasons beyond our control such as temporary failure of equipment, breakdown, industrial action, adverse weather, epidemic or pandemic, government order, act of war, terrorism, act of God or similar. We shall not be liable for any damages to you should such a force majeure event hinder or prohibit us from fulfilling your order on time.

Limitation of liability

We take every care to deliver your order but we are not liable for any loss or damage which may incur arising from any delay, failure or other issues arising from delivery. We accept no responsibility for any loss or damage to you in respect of anything that you use which is on our website. Save as to death or personal injury caused by negligence or any liability which cannot be excluded by law, our maximum liability to you is limited to the greater of the value of your order or one thousand pounds.

We welcome reviews! Reviews are entirely voluntary. If you leave a review or send us a testimonial, we may use that on our website or social media. Where possible we will anonymise your name.
